Eastern Himalayas of Tawang

Tawang, or the kingdom of ‘Mon Yul’ in Tibetan, lies beyond the snowy Sela Pass in the eastern Himalayas of Arunachal Pradesh bordering Tibet and Bhutan. It is an important centre of both Gelugpa as well Nyingmapa Buddhist traditions. Tawang is also the land of 108 holy lakes and the historical Tawang monastery, the largest in India and the second largest Buddhist monastery in the world. Discover the pristine beauty of the Himalayan mountains and its beautiful valleys, lush green meadows and alpine forests.
