The Manikya dynasty ruled over this little independent kingdom and parts of neighbouring Bangladesh and Myanmar since 12th century and joined Indian Union in 1949. Visit the monuments built by the Manikya rulers such as Neer Mahal at Melaghar, the largest lake palace in India, along with Chaturdasha temple of fourteen native Gods, the Ujjayanta Palace museum in capital Agartala, Tripura Sundari temple and Gunabati temples in Udaipur. Walk through the archaeological sites of Unakoti and Chabimura which are renowned for their life size rock carvings and stone sculptures. One can also visit the historical site of Pilak which was influenced by Buddhism and Arakan people from Burma.
